Group

As a group committed to sustainable development, Mersen sets itself very high standards. And it demonstrably meets these standards, scoring 6.9 out of 10 in a social and environmental responsibility assessment conducted in 2009.

Protecting our employees

Human capital represents the foundation of the Group’s commitment to sustainable development. First and foremost, Mersen initiated its environmental program to protect its employees. Aside from an inventory of potential risks and a regular review of preventative measures, improvements can be made to its installations.

Complying with regulations

ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified at its principal sites, the Group observes the Reach regulations in Europe, taking a broad interpretation of it. For example, Mersen has declared certain strategic chemical substances to the European authorities, to cover the eventuality that our suppliers have failed to pre-register them.

Curbing its impact

When developing its products, Mersen has adopted the principles of eco-design by using a software enabling it to use less materials and energy. Mersen strives to minimize its consumption of water, power, commodities and packaging. The most recent addition to its arsenal of measures is that the Group plans to roll out carbon footprint reviews across all its principal sites worldwide, after an initial review at a pilot site.
